CABAR.asia 24.03.23

The Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), along with the Legal Media Center and the Association of Religious Organizations of Kazakhstan, organized two briefing meetings for government agencies, experts, and representatives from religious communities in the cities of Karaganda and Shymkent. These events were conducted with the assistance of the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as local departments for religious affairs.

More than 80 religious leaders completed trainings conducted by IWPR in partnership with the Committee of Religion, Regulation of National Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in three districts of the GBAO: Darvoz, Vanj Districts and in the city of Khorog, from the 1st to 5th of October.

CABAR.asia 18.07.19

In Garmchashma area of Ishkoshim district, more than 40 khatibs and imam-khatibs from various cities and districts of the republic, the Ismaili caliphs, representatives of the Christian and Protestant churches, scholars, representatives of media, khukumats and international organizations gathered for a free discussion. The topic of the discussion was “Unity as a factor of solidarity and peace in society”.

CABAR.asia 13.07.19

Experts say about the need to develop multilateral approach to repatriation of the Kyrgyzstanis from Iraq and Syria. According to Kylym Shamy human rights centre, four Kyrgyzstani women and 11 minor children are incarcerated in a Baghdad prison. According to the head of the organisation, Aziza Abdirasulova, these are the people they know about. Moreover, 46 families whose relatives have departed to war zones in the Middle East have applied to human rights defenders. Besides, 12 people with children whose relatives have not been identified so far are located in Syria.

The events were attended by 314 people – social workers, local government representatives, community leaders, theologians, students and religious figures.

Five dialogue meetings and three intellectual games were held in the regional centers of Kazakhstan – Asa, Zhanatas, Karatau, Merke and Kulan. The events were organized by the IWPR Representative Office in Central Asia in cooperation with organizations of legal entities “Association of Religious Studies Centers” and with support of the Office for Religious Affairs of the Zhambyl region’s Akimat.
