Events
In Garmchashma area of Ishkoshim district, more than 40 khatibs and imam-khatibs from various cities and districts of the republic, the Ismaili caliphs, representatives of the Christian and Protestant churches, scholars, representatives of media, khukumats and international organizations gathered for a free discussion. The topic of the discussion was “Unity as a factor of solidarity and peace in society”.
The events were attended by 314 people – social workers, local government representatives, community leaders, theologians, students and religious figures.
Five dialogue meetings and three intellectual games were held in the regional centers of Kazakhstan – Asa, Zhanatas, Karatau, Merke and Kulan. The events were organized by the IWPR Representative Office in Central Asia in cooperation with organizations of legal entities “Association of Religious Studies Centers” and with support of the Office for Religious Affairs of the Zhambyl region’s Akimat.
IWPR is working on the comprehensive development of religious women leaders and finding new ways of unification as part of the “Stability in Central Asia through Open Dialogue” project.

IWPR Tajikistan trained 71 imam-khatibs during the trainings in the cities of Tursunzoda, Khujand, Konibodom. The imam-khatibs from border districts, representatives of local authorities, the Committee of Religion, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Centre for Islamic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the trainings.
Experts discussed timely religious issues with local authorities, religious leaders and local communities in the towns of Tokmok, Kara-Balta and Sokuluk village. (more…)
Trainings in Kyrgyzstan were held in Jalalabat, Osh and Batken cities, in Kazakhstan – Kyzylorda, Turkestan and Taraz cities.
